Podcast #309 – Applying the hero’s life model to everyday life
Description:
In this episode I speak to David Lee from Soul Satisfying Work and we will discuss how you can apply the Hero’s Journey Model to your everyday life. I think you’ll find this to be quite a thought-provoking episode.
David is a colleague of Scott Woodard, who was on the podcast with his wife Camille episode 305 as they shared their story of becoming expats in Mexico. David contacted me via LinkedIn after this episode aired.
David has been a guest on several podcasts lately and I asked him to suggest an idea for a podcast episode.
His pitch was as follows:
How to use the Hero’s Journey model as a tool to navigate this chapter and bring more thoughtfulness/intentionality, wisdom and intrigue to life. I remember David Whyte saying, as John Keats said, poetry makes all life more interesting. I have found that applying the hero’s journey to everyday life makes everyday life more fascinating and how we view our journey as earthlings.
We had no plan in advance of how the discussion would go. I like to let these discussions flow organically and edit them. It turned out to be one of the most thought-provoking discussions I’ve had in a long time. The interview lasted almost 50 minutes, which I whittled down to just over 40 minutes. So the episode is a little longer than usual, but I encourage you to listen to the entire episode.
