The insurance industry’s efforts on behalf of people struggling after disasters don’t end with the payment of insurance claims.
The nonprofit Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation (IICF) created the IICF Hurricane Ian Relief Fund to provide assistance to those in need after Hurricane Ian. The funds will benefit Team Rubicon, a nonprofit organization providing emergency response and assistance in all affected areas, and the SW FL Emergency Relief Fund, which provides critical support to nonprofit organizations and people in areas of immediate need.
Through these nonprofit organizations, IICF will provide funds for recovery assistance, temporary shelter and basic necessities, as well as non-perishable food, toiletries and diapers for children affected by the storm.
“The insurance industry is rooted in helping others in times of need,” said Bill Ross, CEO of IICF. “As tens of thousands of Floridians struggle to recover from the devastation of Hurricane Ian, we as an industry are compelled to support those affected through charitable donations.”
With help from the insurance industry, IICF has been able to raise $2.3 million over the last few years to support non-profit organizations responding to disaster and pandemic needs in the United States and the United Kingdom.
